Advice to my un-created son

For just in case I am ever blessed with a little Prince, I have started a list. I wont teach him about the 'birds and the bees', how to shave or even to ride a bike.. that's what Dad will be for.

But below is just a little of what I hope to teach my son one day..

- Don't trust anyone who cant be kind to small children or animals.

- If you ask a girl out, always pay.

-If it is right, it happens—The main thing is not to hurry. Nothing good gets away.

-If a street performer makes you stop walking, you owe him a buck.

-Never cancel dinner plans by text message. Especially with your Mama!

-More times than not, you will be judged by your shoes.

-There is just no good reason to look into a woman's handbag.

-The best way to ruin an apology is with an explanation.

-Women are crazy, irrational, needy and amazingly wonderful creatures.

-Don't ever get drunker than your boss

-Return a borrowed car with a full tank.

-Life shrinks or expands in proportion to one’s courage.

-On occasion, unplug.

-If you are lucky enough to be invited into a woman's life.. this is a privialge, not a right and you will be there only as long as you deserve to be. Always woo. Always respect. Always cherish.

-Dont ever let your woman/mother mow the lawn.

-If you cant see your shirt cuff, your jacket doesn't fit.

- Never shake someone's hand sitting down. Your grandad always told me this, and since he is wise, you should listen.

What a blissful weekend spent in Mackay. Almost 48hours spent with this man went quicker than I could have imagined.

In life, we do things. Some, we wish we had never done and some we wish we could replay a million times. They make us who we are and, in the end, they shape and detail us. If we were to reserve them, we wouldn’t be the person we are today. So, just live. Make mistakes and have wonderful memories. But, never second guess who you are, where you’ve been and, most importantly, where you’re going. Because all that ive done and seen have somehow shaped me into the person that is loved by this man.

-Your sexuality is not a bargaining chip in the negotiation of life. Dont trade on it, it is something specifically and only yours to explore and enjoy with someone you love. If you treat it as anything less, youre just gambling away your shot at true intimacy in pursuit of a false sense of worth.

-Champagne is for sipping. Trust me.

-Sometimes you just have to cry it out. Crying can be therapeutic, it's a girl thing. Just don't do it at work.

-Always treat people well. What goes around, comes around.

-Return your shopping trolley. An abandoned trolly in the middle of a car park implies a sense of entitlement. Someone has to put it away, and that someone should be you.

-Leggings are not pants.

-Not everyone is going to like you and thats just fine.

- Be generous. with your time, your money, your heart. If there was a single lesson I could hope on my best day to impart to you, this would be it.

4. Some people will stand in insanely long lines, for hours, to buy cute clothes on sale. I cant, I just dont have it in me.

5. It's totally ok to spend the whole day in bed.

6. I need to realise that some people dont open themselves up as easily as some.

7. I am scared to fall in love again. Well not the love, but the heart ache.

8. Doing excersises at home can be just as good as going to the gym. Who knew!?

9. I crave real, deep, authentic relationships. They are hard to come by!

10. I am often capable of way more than I give myself credit for.

I haven't done in awhile is go a day without makeup. Admittedly, I feel that I look like I'm suffering from a terminally ill disease without a little help from my good friends mascara and bronzer... but its nice to remember what beauty is all about.

Ive been away from the blogging world for awhile... Maybe its being in love or maybe its the sucky circumstances that invade certain periods of life that make the creative juices dry up. Anyway, I am back.

I have made some life decisions, well maybe just one, but I know that it will effect the number of choices that I have in the future. I am going back to study, I want to become a Visual Merchandiser (I don't know if those two words technically need capital letters, but I feel that they are warranted) I want to have a career that brings in the (turkey) bacon, yes, but beyond that I want a career where I can be creative and look at things through that lens. I am rather excited.

We only get one life and we are the ones who get to write our own ticket in it. xx
